Designing the Orbit has been an exercise in synthesizing many of the aspects of the electric guitar that I love the most. Some of those things are twangy surf music and raw garage rock of the 1960’s, subtle and warbly vibrato arms, the funkier aspects of Kay, Silvertone and Harmony electrics, as well as the bold and idiosyncratic early designs from Japan.
Orbit nut width is 1 11/16″, the scale length is 24.75″ and the pickups are Filter’Trons. The controls are simple; a 3-way toggle with master volume and tone controls. It is available with offset-style vibrato and roller bridge, or a one-piece wraparound bridge on locking studs for ultimate simplicity and stability. I am looking forward to more explorations in finishes, especially candy colours and bursts that go beyond brown.
